Cave Spring

Cave Spring was founded in 1973 by John Pennachetti Sr., who transformed an abandoned orchard on the Niagara Escarpment into a vineyard. With remarkable foresight, he planted Riesling and Chardonnay at a time when their potential was largely overlooked in Canada. Beyond producing exceptional wines, Cave Spring has played a pivotal role in advancing the Canadian wine industry; John Sr.'s son Len co-founded the Vintners Quality Alliance (VQA) and Cave Spring became the first winery to achieve the Sustainable Winegrowing Ontario credential.

Bisquertt

Osvaldo Bisquertt and Soledad Urrutia established their namesake winery in 1978, playing a pivotal role in the development of the Colchagua Valley. In the early 2000s, their son SebastiΓ‘n took over the reins, upholding the family’s commitment to sustainability, which has been recognized by the Wines of Chile organization. Andrea Gillet, Bisquertt's Head Oenologist, leverages her extensive experience from renowned wineries around the globe to craft terroir-driven wines sourced from heritage varieties, many of which come from century-old head-trained vines.

TΓ³th Ferenc

TΓ³th Ferenc - affectionately known as Uncle Feri - and his wife embarked on their winegrowing journey back in 1983. A passionate advocate for rare grape varieties like Kadarka and LeΓ‘nyka, TΓ³th Ferenc has significantly contributed to the Eger region’s viticultural landscape, earning him the prestigious Hungarian Order of Merit for his efforts in 2017. In 2005, his daughter Katalin and son-in-law ZoltΓ‘n joined, enhancing the winery's legacy and championing the official recognition of Egri Csillag (the region's flagship white wine) into appellation law.

Domaine Poiron-Dabin

With nearly two centuries of winemaking heritage, the Poiron-Dabin family has deep roots in the Loire Valley, dating back to at least 1858. The modern winery began with the marriage of Jean Poiron and Thérèse Dabin in 1962, culminating in the acquisition of Domaine de Chantegrolle in 1990. Their sons, Jean-Michel and Laurent, took over as the next generation. Situated in the ChÒteau-Thébaud subzone of the Muscadet Sèvre-et-Maine appellation, Poiron-Dabin produces rich Muscadet and has successfully revived the rare Berligou.

Tenuta Viglione

Founded in 1937, Tenuta Viglione is a family-owned estate nestled in the elevated terroirs of Puglia’s Gioia del Colle, near the historic Via Appia. Now led by third-generation Giovanni Zullo and his offspring, the organic vineyards are dedicated to native varieties like Primitivo, Susumaniello, Negroamaro, and Verdeca. With a commitment to sustainable practices and minimal intervention, the estate honors the integrity of both its grapes and land, and as such its wines have earned the prestigious Tre Bicchieri award from Gambero Rosso.

Stobi

Named after the nearby archaeological site of Stobi, an ancient Paeonian city, the winery honors a long history of viticulture evidenced by ancient grape presses found in the area. With over 500 hectares, Stobi focuses on local varieties like Vranec, with over half of its red plantings dedicated to the North Macedonian specialty. Among the most globally decorated wineries in North Macedonia, with recognition from Decanter and Mundus Vini, Stobi is a benchmark for both TikveΕ‘ and the region at large.

Shipping was fast and prompt! excellent wine!

My wife and I have enjoyed the two bottles that we've tried so far. Upon opening the box, my wife immediately completed the cross-word puzzle and I am looking forward to making the recipe. It's fun tasting wines from lesser known areas of the world!
