A leading example from this historic French appellation, this Pécharmant from Château de Tiregand demonstrates the majesty of Merlot when given the spotlight in a blend. Sumptuous and velvety in its texture, the wine finds rich, brooding flavors of cassis, black plum, tobacco leaf, and cocoa powder. Long and enjoyable today, the wine can easily be cellared for a decade or longer.

Steak, Périgord black truffles, burgers, rich mushroom dishes, French onion soup, candlelit dinners, crisp autumn nights

Château de Tiregand, nestled in the Pécharmant appellation, boasts a rich history that stretches back to the 16th century, featuring notable owners such as Jean de Belrieu and Count César-Alexandre de La Panouse. Originally celebrated for its white varieties cultivated from vine material of Château d’Yquem, a devastating frost in 1956 prompted François de Saint-Exupéry—relative of renowned World War II pilot and author of The Little Prince—to introduce red varietals. In 2022, Christophe Piat acquired the estate and, alongside his family, embarked on a journey to convert it to organic farming. Their commitment to sustainable and biodynamic practices honors the land and has led to the production of their highly esteemed Pécharmant wines.
