Named after the nearby archaeological site of Stobi, an ancient Paeonian city, the winery honors a long history of viticulture evidenced by ancient grape presses found in the area. With over 500 hectares, Stobi focuses on local varieties like Vranec, with over half of its red plantings dedicated to the North Macedonian specialty. Among the most globally decorated wineries in North Macedonia, with recognition from Decanter and Mundus Vini, Stobi is a benchmark for both TikveΕ‘ and the region at large.
With nearly two centuries of winemaking heritage, the Poiron-Dabin family has deep roots in the Loire Valley, dating back to at least 1858. The modern winery began with the marriage of Jean Poiron and Thérèse Dabin in 1962, culminating in the acquisition of Domaine de Chantegrolle in 1990. Their sons, Jean-Michel and Laurent, took over as the next generation. Situated in the ChÒteau-Thébaud subzone of the Muscadet Sèvre-et-Maine appellation, Poiron-Dabin produces rich Muscadet and has successfully revived the rare Berligou.
Nestled in the rolling hills of Friuliβs Rosazzo subzone, Ronco delle Betulle has been crafting organic wines since its founding in 1967 by Giovanbattista Adami. Now led by Ivana Adami and her son Simone Sechi, the estate spans 12 hectares of terraced vineyards dedicated to native varieties like Friulano, Ribolla Gialla, and the rare Pignolo. With a deep respect for tradition and nature, the winery eschews chemicals, opting for sustainable, artisanal methods that honor the landβs rich history, rooted in the ancient Abbey of Rosazzo.
The vision for Fausti was conceived in 1997 when Cristina Fausti envisioned an organic, modern winery to complement her familyβs Marche vineyard. She partnered with esteemed winemaker Domenico DβAngelo, who shares her reverence for the land and celebrates the principles of biodiversity y in the vineyard. Nestled in Fermo, a region steeped in viticultural history, Faustiβs vineyards are marked by a medieval towerβonce owned by the Matteucci countsβsymbolizing the areaβs rich grape-growing heritage.
Osvaldo Bisquertt and Soledad Urrutia established their namesake winery in 1978, playing a pivotal role in the development of the Colchagua Valley. In the early 2000s, their son SebastiΓ‘n took over the reins, upholding the familyβs commitment to sustainability, which has been recognized by the Wines of Chile organization. Andrea Gillet, Bisquertt's Head Oenologist, leverages her extensive experience from renowned wineries around the globe to craft terroir-driven wines sourced from heritage varieties, many of which come from century-old head-trained vines.
The Merayo family has deep roots in the Bierzo appellation, with a long legacy of viticulture as both grape growers and wine producers. In 1989, Pedro Merayo shifted his focus solely to nurturing his family's vineyards, revitalizing the region's old vines that had been neglected during the Franco era. Relaunching the Merayo winery in 2010, he is now joined by his son Juan. Today, Merayo is dedicated to crafting site-specific wines from their head-trained vines, many nearly a century old, while maintaining a steadfast commitment to sustainable practices.
